Say Anything… (1989)

To start off, I think this is one of the best movies ever. Not just as a romantic teen movie of course it tops that list easy. Anyway what I love about this movie is that the story is just so pure and truthful. It shows the ups and downs of any relationship. It shows that you don’t need to be afraid to ask someone out, and that if you want something no matter what might be in your way you can push your way through to be happy.

In case you don’t know this movie, I’ll tell you a little about it. (*SPOILER ALERT* just letting you know I might have given too much away) It’s about this guy Lloyd (a average student/kickboxer) who after graduation tries to start a relationship with Diane who was valedictorian (who also has a fellowship to study in England after the summer). She agrees to go out with him, so for their date she gets taken to a party for the graduating class, you see she’s very intelligent but isn’t very social, never had a lot of friend but the people at the party start to see she’s not just a brain. After that Lloyd and Diane start to see each other as often as they could. While this is going on Lloyd gets advice from his female friends since this is his first romantic relationship. Also Diane’s father Jim is under investigation by the IRS for tax fraud, and Lloyd & Diane’s relationship gets stronger as the summer goes on. Soon Jim tell Diane of how he doesn’t like that she is dating someone who is an underachiever, and basically forces her to break up with Lloyd, and man is he crushed. But Diane later learns the truth about her father and sees that he isn’t what she thought he was, and realizes that Lloyd is nothing short of and amazing guy, so they get back together and Lloyd also wants Diane to work things out with her father before she leaves, at the end they set off on a plane to England together.
