Fairly Legal – Pilot (1/20/2011)

Kate Reed is dealing with the recent death of her father, and she is now going back to work for the first time since his death, during that time she decides to stop practicing law and become a mediator. And in this episode she defiantly has her hands full, because a guy and his fiancée is suing 3 workers for losing the engagement ring for about a million dollars, and also dealing with the son of a prominent businessman who got in a car crash because of another car pulling a gun (but is that the actual story). This is a nice spin of the typical legal dramas, even though she still deals with lawyers in the usual way they have it in shows. It will be nice to see where this show goes, hopefully it won’t fall into the same old grind and stays fresh, if it does that it could start a whole new style all it’s own. It has a nice comedic style that reminds me of another USA show “Psych” and that’s not a bad thing. Sarah Shahi (plays Kate Reed) is fun to watch and has great comedic timing, she makes mediating fun to watch instead of thinking that it’s gonna be grueling. And Kate has her own crack team assembling as the cast from the wizard of oz (no they aren’t the actual characters but she has them in her cell phone that way). Well I look forward to upcoming episodes and if you like legal dramas especial ones with comic flair, then this is defiantly a show to check out.

The Show Airs – Thursdays at 10p.m. on USA

I give this episode a B+
