2 Broke Girls – Pilot (9/19/2011)
CBS has a new show in it’s Monday night line up, 2 Broke Girls. It’s a 30 minutes comedy starring Kat Dennings and Beth Behrs. The show created by Michael Patrick King and Whitney Cummings, which is no surprise when you hear the great comedy that fills the full half hour.
A story about 2 different girls with similar circumstances, their broke. Max (Dennings) a girl just trying to make it day to day, never really having a lot of money. And Caroline (Behrs) a former rich girl now left with nothing after her families assents were frozen. Set in New York City, Max a waitress in a dinner unwillingly meets Caroline after getting hired (although she has no work experience). The two begin somewhat on a bad note but as the show progresses the two become friend and more importantly business partners, as Caroline who has a degree in business has an idea to sell Max’s cupcakes for top dollar.
OK, to be honest the only reason I wanted to check out this show was because of Kat Dennings who I think is a brilliant actress with impeccable comedic timing and skill. But after watching the Pilot I was completely blown away by everything, although I think Dennings carried the show delivering most of the comedy. Like any show, with all of the promos and previews sometimes you see the whole episode before it airs, that may be the case with this, but there is still enough great comedy left over to still make the episode amazing. Like I said before Dennings seemed to get all or at least most of the great one liners and also had some physical comedy as well. Hopefully we will see a bit more for Behrs in upcoming episodes. But the chemistry between the girls is exactly what is going to make it great. I can’t see what else this show could possible bring to the table as the casting and comedy are already spot on, and hopefully will just continue to grow along with it’s viewership. So keep up the great work girls!
This show airs Mondays at 8:30 p.m. on CBS (It’s normal time slot)
